Kellyeen Sanders earns Master's at Wilkes University

Wilkes University awarded 301 doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees to students graduating after the completion of the fall 2013 semester. Area students Kearns & Stenberg receive fall academic honors at UIU

The Upper Iowa University Athletic Department will recognize 179 student-athletes who earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll on Friday, Jan. 24 between the men's and women's basketball games against Concorida University, St. Paul. "We are thrilled to announce the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the Fall semester," Brandi Rideout, the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services said.

Simpson makes Truman State University Fall Provost and Vice President List

Truman State University has released the Fall 2013 Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs List. To qualify for this list, an undergraduate student must attain a semester 3.50-3.99 grade point average and must complete 12 semester hours of credit.  Founded in 1867, Truman is Missouri's highly selective public liberal arts and sciences university.

Area students receive degrees at ISU commencement

At Iowa State University's winter commencement ceremonies, 1,821 students received degrees. Iowa State awarded 1,515 undergraduate degrees, 198 master's degrees, and 108 doctor of philosophy degrees.  Of the students receiving bachelor's degrees, 297 graduated "With Distinction" (cum laude, magna cum laude or summa cum laude).

NNUAL IOWA FARMERS MARKET WORKSHOP TO BE HELD FEBRUARY 8th Training for market managers and vendors will be held at First Christian Church in Des Moines The 16th Annual Iowa Farmers Market Workshop will be held on Saturday, February 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 2500 University Ave., in Des Moines.  The workshop is sponsored by the Iowa Farmers Market Association (IFMA) and will provide training and information for farmers market managers and vendors.

IFAA Offers Iowa Youth $164,200 in Scholarships

College-bound Iowa youth active in 4-H and/or FFA livestock projects and current undergraduate students may apply for $164,200 in scholarships available from the Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement (IFAA). There are 62 scholarships available to freshmen entering any Iowa two or four-year, post-secondary institution this fall and 27 scholarships available to current undergraduates attending Iowa State University.

Andrews, Garwood named to Central Dean's List

Two area students have been named to the Central College Dean's list. Amy Andrews of Shellsburg, majoring in communication studies and enviromental studies, is the daughter of Kenton and Pamela Andrews Alyson Garwood of Dysart, majoring in sociology, is the daughter of Scott and Leann Garwood The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.

Alliant Energy promotes Iowa Pipeline Association awareness training

Emergency Responders and Public Officials are encouraged to attend educational event Alliant Energy’s Iowa gas utility is participating in the Iowa Pipeline Association’s 2014 Pipeline Awareness and Education training offered at locations throughout the state. The training informs and instructs emergency responders and public officials about pipeline safety and prevention strategies.

ECC announces 2013 Fall Term Dean's List

One hundred fifty-eight students have been named to the Fall 2013 (August to December) Dean's List at Ellsworth Community College. To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must have taken 12 or more credit hours during the semester (a full-time class load) and have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average while attending ECC classes in Iowa Falls or online.

Iowa Youth Delegates Reflect on Experiences at National 4-H Congress

The Iowa 4-H youth toured the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church during National 4-H Congress in Atlan Nineteen Iowa youth delegates returned from National 4-H Congress inspired to make a difference, more culturally aware of the ethnic diversity around the world and in their local communities and having made friendships that will last a lifetime. On Thanksgiving weekend delegates from throughout the United States and its territories traveled to Atlanta, Ga.
